Second Global Symposium on Health Systems Research

The conference was co-hosted by Peking University Health Science Center and the World Health Organization and was sponsored by the Ministry of Health of the People’s Republic of China. Tim Evans, former assistant director of the World Health Organization, served as Chair of the conference. Lincoln Chen, president of China Medical Board and Judith Rodin, president of Rockefeller Foundation made speeches at the Opening Plenary. Chen Zhu, Minister of Health also attended the opening ceremony and made the keynote speech “Towards universal health coverage: progress and achievements of the health reform in China”. More than 1800 government officials, experts and scholars from 112 countries and regions attended the symposium, among whom 1500 were international delegates. There were 208 satellite sessions and concurrent sessions taking place at 27 meeting rooms, with a total number of 750 speakers.
